Freedom
Williams
telephone interview by Steve Smith |
Little Cube News: So what are you doing now?
Freedom Williams: I have a portable recording
studio down in Shreveport, LA.
LCN: Wow! So you’re still in the “biz"?
FW: I’m freelance now, but yes. Sometimes,
on weekends, I get my game on down at the Outdoor Swapmart on
Rosewood. I can rhyme anything in an instant. What did you say
you name was again?
LCN: Rex.
FW: Where you from?
LCN: Umm...Sacramento.
FW: And what color shirt are wearing?
LCN: Royal Blue, I think.
FW: Let me go to work... Rex / Rex / he likes
sex / Rex / Rex / he likes sex [ed. note- Williams then
presses sequence of buttons on phone to demonstrate melody]
What do you think?
LCN: That was dope. On 'Things That Make You
Go Hmmmm" you sang, "Seventeen and I was havin' a
ball / Eleventh grade and "Joe" I knew it all."
Who is Joe?
FW: Clivilles wrote that, I think. I don't know.
I think that was his boy from the day, or something.
LCN: Then you sang, "I fell in love for
the very first time / With this girl she really blew my mind."
Did you mean what I think you meant by "blow" and
somthing else by "mind"?
FW: I said I didn't write that.
LCN: Any thought of a C + C Music Factory
reunion?
FW: I’ve put a few calls into Cole, but
nothing so far. Shit. That would be hot! Gonna make you sweat
‘til you bleed. Is that dope enough? Indeed!
LCN: Indeed it is. Indeed it is... David Cole
did die three years ago, right?
FW: I don't think that's true. I mean, you can
say it's true, but that don't mean it's true, hear me? I can
say the moon isn't real, but that don't make it true now does
it?
LCN: I guess not. I guess not..
